We invite you to submit a contributed abstract for the focus topic "MATERIALS IN EXTREMES: BRIDGING SIMULATIONS AND EXPERIMENT" at APS 2017 March Meeting (http://www.aps.org/units/dfd/meetings/meeting.cfm?name=MAR17) in New Orleans, LA, March 13-17, 2017.

The focus session, consisting of several invited and contributed talks, will assess recent experimental and theoretical efforts in exploring fundamental properties of matter at extreme conditions, including

  1. high-pressure and high temperature synthesis and characterization of novel materials;
  2. static and shock-induced materials behavior, including plasticity, phase transitions, and chemical reactions;
  3. high strain rate phenomena occurring upon ultrafast energy deposition;
  4. static and dynamic properties of energetic materials, including detonation phenomena;
  5. properties of matter in the warm dense regime;
  6. new computational methods including development of interatomic potentials and multi-scale simulations.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday, November 11, 2016 5p.m. Please use the sorting category 16.1.7 Materials in Extremes: Bridging Simulation and Experiment (cross-listed as 18.1.1).

We would also appreciate if you could spread new news around and encourage your colleagues to submit their abstract to the FT. Keep in mind that according to APS rules only one contributed talk is allowed per first author, however, there are no limitations on number of abstracts submitted by you as a co-author. The multiple abstracts submitted by the same first author will be moved to the poster session.
