10th International Conference on the Mechanical and Physical Behaviour of Materials under Dynamic Loading was held on Sept.2-7, 2012, in Freiburg, Germany. More than 200 participants from26 countries including Germany, France, the United States and China attended this conference. The topic in this symposium is mainly about the physical and mechanical behaviors of metals, ceramics, concrete, polymer, biomaterials and composites at high strain rates. About 200 papers were accepted, in which 78 oral presentations were organized and 74 posters were exhibited. The papers were devided into several categories including experimental techniques, microstructural effects, biomechanics, modeling & numerical simulation and industrial applications.
Prof. Pengwan Chen was invited to attend the conference and gave an oral presentation entitled “dynamic tensile deformation and fracture of a highly particle-filled composite using SHPB and high-speed DIC method”. In this talk, Prof. Chen introduced the latest achievements of the Shock Physics & Chemistry Research Group (Beijing Institute of Technology) in the measurement of dynamic tensile properties and fracture toughness of low-strength brittle highly particle-filled composite.
