Yellow Sea Rim Workshop on Explosion, Combustion and other Energetic Phenomena for Various Environmental Issues-2012 (YSR-2012) was held on August 2-3, 2012, in Kumamoto University, Japan. Prof. Pengwan Chen was invited to attend the conference and gave an oral presentation entitled “Hot Explosive Compaction of W and W/Cu Powders”. In this talk, Prof. Chen introduced the latest achievements of the Shock Physics & Chemistry Research Group (Beijing Institute of Technology) in synthesis of W and W/Cu powders and W-Cu Functionally Graded Material (FGM) by using explosive compaction, including device design, experimental testing, characterization, numerical simulation and mechanism analysis. More than 50 scholars and scientists from Japan, Korea and China attended this conference.
