The International symposium on Explosive Production of  New Materials: Science, Technology, Business, and Innovation(EPNM-2012) was held May 2-5,2012, in Strasbourg, France. Prof. Pengwan Chen was invited to attend the conference and gave an oral presentation entitled "Shock-induced elemental doping of and phase transition in TiO2".

The EPNM-2012 was organized by Institute of Mechanics of Fluids and Solids (IMFS), Strasbourg, France. The aims of EPNM-2012 are to share experiences and knowledge, and to provide an up-to-date comprehensive assessment of recent concerns for science and technology of materials processing by explosion. The topics in this symposium included explosive welding of metals, consolidation of powders and composite materials, synthesis of new materials in shock and detonations waves explosive and shock processing of materials, industrial implementation of materials production/processing by explosion. Nearly 100 scholars and scientists, coming from different countries of the world, were present at this conference.

PHD student Yin Hao gave an oral presentation entitled "Detonation synthesis of carbon-encapsulated metal nanoparticles".
