The 9th International Conference on Analysis of Discontinuous Deformation (ICADD9) was held at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore during November 25-27, 2009. The First ICADD was held in Taiwan in 1995. The conference series aims to exchange ideas and new developments in the various modeling methods for discontinuous deformation. It also promotes the application of the developed methods to rock engineering problems. Nearly 100 scholars and scientists, coming from 17 countries attended this conference. About 80 papers were accepted for oral presentation at the conference. These papers represent the most recent advances and developments in the increasingly important field of discontinuous deformation analysis in rock mechanics and engineering.
Prof. Jun Yang and Dr. Kaida Dai attended the conference and gave an oral presentation entitled "Study on roof caving problem with DDA method" and "Micromechanical simulation of the damage and fracture behavior of a highly particle-filled composite material using mainfold method" respectively.
